Black Belt Education Program 2009 ModulesWater Resources and PollutionUsing two EnviroScape, one with and another without erosion control features, module leaders demonstrated that anything that goes into ground will eventually affect the world we inhabit. Students discussed topics, such as why it is important to keep our drinking water clean, why Clean Water Act was needed, and why planting trees is important. They were introduced the concepts of point source pollution, non-point source pollution, water table, erosion, baffled zones, and water cycle. Students then explored Macro Mania. By sorting the deck of cards onto the sorting sheets, students determined the water quality at their site from the distribution of macro-invertebrates in their samples.
