Black Belt Education Program 2009 ModulesFossils- Ancient Seas in AlabamaStudents learned what fossils are, how fossils formed, and how important fossils are when studying the environment. Fossils tell us what animals and plants looked like in the past, how life on earth has evolved over time and also how the climate has changed. Students were able to identify and take home a variety of fossils donated by "Where on Earth?" and the Geological Survey of Alabama. Students used cutouts to demonstrate the size of the extinct Megalodon shark.
