Black Belt Education Program 2009 ModulesAbstract Insect ArtMs. Thornton discussed some of Eric Carle's books, such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Busy Spider, and The Very Lonely Firefly focusing on Carle's style of illustration. Students learned Carle's art work is created by using hand-painted papers, which he cuts to form bright and cheerful images. They were asked to create art works of their favorite insects by cutting colorful images from magazines. The students' works of art were placed on display at the school for all the students to enjoy.
